Adopt a Mother

Your adopted mother will teach a group of neighbourhood children, so your donation actually helps several families and their children.

Your adopted mother will send letters and photos to you - as well as the odd video clip - on a regular basis throughout the year.

If you live in the Toronto area, Christine, of Christine's Fitness will also give you a free membership for 3 months.

Adopt a Child

Because learning is easier when it's fun, your adopted child will be taught through songs, playing games and using puppets in addition to the more conventional teaching methods such as listening to stories, reading and writing. Children help one another and form close friendships as a result of working together every day on activities that stimulate their minds - something not available to them otherwise.

To let you know what difference your donation is making, your adopted child will send you letters with photos from time to time over the year..

Adopt a School

$9,700

By sponsoring a school, you will be supporting at least 100 children in their education for a year.

A key strategy to ensure sustainability is teaching the mothers to create learning materials and helping them to monitor the progress of their own and their children's work.

Your school will train mothers to make inexpensive learning materials and share progress with you over the year by e-mails, reports, photos and video clips.

Mothers feel empowered when they create and use their own materials to teach children and the culture of learning becomes a powerful force in the household.

New school locations are selected based on applications received and must have met the following criterion:

mothers must have limited or no formal education themselves;
mothers must commit to attending school 5 days per week;
mothers must commit to teaching a group of at least 5 neighbourhood children in their own dwelling/home.

You can name your school. You'll receive a yearbook, information about the neighbourhood, quarterly reports with photos and videos with detailed information about the progress made (presented in an interesting way) as well as monthly newsletters.

Adopt a Neighbourhood

$2,500 - By adopting a neighbourhood, sponsors will be supporting 25 children through the mothers. You will receive a yearbook, quarterly progress reports, video clips and detailed information about the neighbourhood.
